Yoga for Anxiety

I want to share a few tips on how to manage anxiety so you can start feeling more peaceful inside be able to enjoy your life.  

Here are the common symptoms of anxiety:

Feeling nervous, restless or tense.

  • Having a sense of impending danger, panic or doom.
  • Having an increased heart rate.
  • Breathing rapidly (hyperventilation)
  • Sweating.
  • Trembling.
  • Feeling weak or tired.
  • Trouble concentrating or thinking about anything other than the present worry.

Have you noticed anything common amongst these symptoms. 

They are all physical!!  I have found that the most effective ways to deal with anxiety, is through the physical body, rather than the mind.   

Of course the root cause of most anxiety is unresolved childhood experiences, but to be able to deal with the root cause, we first have to be able to feel somewhat centred and safe.  And to get there, there is gentle yoga, sound and other ways to tap into the body.

It takes time and practice to bring the nervous system back into balance, so a daily practice is highly recommended.  A daily practice of relaxation and letting your body re-learn how it feels when it is relaxed.
